2012 BRINGS MORE…
For the second season of the Huntington Hammer, changes are in the air and anyone involved with the organization can tell there is a different feel to things. One major change that will be happening for the new season will be the expansion of the HammerGirls. The biggest thing is the addition of the dance team to the mix. The Hammer are looking to expand the roster of ladies to about 20 HammerGirls, with a portion of those being assigned to the dance team and a portion that will handle more or the promotional aspects of the team. “We are in the process of securing a major sponsor that would be tied in with the HammerGirls,” said General Manager Dan Fisher. “That sponsorship will expand the exposure of the ladies to include not just Huntington Hammer events, but other events as well,” he continued, “some performance related and other more promotional in nature.”
New Dance Coordinator Heather Daniels will be working with the staff at Jeslyn Performing Arts Center to hold try-outs, practices, and on choreography. “We are hoping to hold the actual dance try-outs in September or October,” said Daniels, “but if someone is interested, they shouldn’t wait.” The Hammer are staying very busy with activities and events throughout the festival season and the promotional portion of things is already in full swing.
Director of Gameday Operations, John Davis, said “we know that some ladies are very excited about performing, others are more excited to be a part of the events like Rib Fest, the Hot Dog Festival, and working to keep the Kids Club registration program rolling.” By having a larger team, the Hammer hopes to be able to allow more people to be able to experience the excitement of the 2012 season.
Ladies 18 and over who are interested in becoming a HammerGirl should call the Huntington Hammer office at 304-525-PASS (7277) or send an email to info@huntingtonhammer.com.
